Advertisements have a way of turning what they are trying to say into something with an underlining meaning. For example, in this advertisement for axe body gel, the statement says, "The Cleaner You Are, The Dirtier You Get". This advertisement is referring to men who use axe body gel will get "dirtier" women. However, this advertisement has an underlining meaning in the sense that the woman who is supposed to be representing someone "dirty" has her hair in a tight bun, and is wearing a white corset, which matches the man who is also in white. The fact that both the man and woman are in white gives them a sense of equality. This deters from what the advertisement is trying to convey because the woman is not illustrated as someone dirtier, but actually someone at the same sexual level as the man. Also, when thinking of a "dirty" woman, the first thing that usually comes to mind is not someone in a white corset with a bun. Men do not only want their women to be sexy, but also pure and proper. This is where the advertisement is misleading. It states that the cleaner the men are, the dirtier they get, which contradicts the women with her hair in a tight bun and her pure white corset. This advertisement gives the idea that although men want their women to be dirty, they also want them to be pure. By looking at the white color of the woman's corset, the constraining texture of the woman's corset with the mans soapy back, and the typography in which both sides of the advertisement are written in, it is evident that this advertisement is misleading.

Color plays a very important role in advertisements, because it appeals to people's feelings. For example, when seeing bright or vibrant colors it brings out a more lively and energetic feel. When seeing colors such as black and white, like in this advertisement, it brings to mind something dark and something pure. The background of this advertisement is black, which contrasts with the man and the woman who are both in white. This means that the man and the woman are supposed to stand out. It is supposed to be a very definite advertisement with a clear meaning. However, it actually has all these underlining meanings to it. The woman comes off as someone pure because of the color of her corset. If the women would have been in a red corset it could have added to the sense of something more passionate and sexy. The white color of the corset however makes her come off as someone innocent. This is misleading with what the advertisement is saying because the woman herself does not look that "dirty". It seems that the advertisement wanted to stick with the idea that the man is washing himself in something white, which matches the woman wearing her white corset. The fact they are both in something white gives them a sense of equality. They stick out from the background, but not in a different way, in the same way. The saying that goes along with this advertisement is also written in white. The color white is usually associated with things pure and innocent, so the statement "the dirtier you get", should not be written in white. Again, if it were written in red, a color with more passion, it would reveal a sexier theme.

Texture is something that comes very easily to the eye as shown in the advertisement with the woman in a tight corset and the man with a soapy back. People tend to notice when things look smooth or harsh. In this advertisement, the man is rubbing his back with smooth and soapy body wash, while the women is in her constraining and tight corset. This representation gives the idea that the man is more free, while the women is more constraint. Women usually wore corsets in earlier times to shape their figure. However, in current time, it can come off as something "dirty". Women do not only wear it under their clothes to shape their bodies, but as something seducing for men. The way that she is tightening up her corset is the same way that the man is rubbing his back with soap. They are both in this awkward position with their arms around their back, again playing into the idea that they are both very similar. However, at the same time they are not, because she is more constrained and held back then the man. The woman is also wearing her hair in a tight bun. This can come off as misleading because when thinking of a woman that is "dirty", it is not easily associated with someone wearing her hair up. If the woman would have had her hair down and looking more luxurious and rich it would have played into the idea of something sexier. Overall the woman comes off as someone more repressed then dirty, while the man comes off as someone with more freedom.

Typography and the way things are written can also easily appeal to ones eye as shown in this advertisement that is written in capital letters, which comes off very bold. It makes the statement appear as if it is very important and that it demonstrates the image very accurately. The second part of the saying "The Dirtier You Get" is also written in a curler font. It comes off as something more seductive and alluring. However, the statement does not justify what the picture is showing. The man happens to look dirtier than the women. He is the one unclothed with water pouring down him, as he rubs his body wash all over himself. The woman is actually dry and clothed. This is another misleading idea, because although the font is written in a more alluring way in front of the woman, the man is actually the one more seductive looking.

Overall this image is very misleading. The color scheme that goes along with this advertisement is inaccurate. The woman is portrayed in white, which does not come off as a "dirty" color. The fact that both the man and the woman are in white gives them a sense of equality, which corresponds with the fact that the writing is also written in white, adding to the sense of equality. However, the typography is more alluring when stating "The dirtier you get", but the woman herself looks less "dirty" than the man. He is the one in the shower with smooth soap running down his body, while the woman is clothed and looks somewhat proper with her hair in a bun. The texture also comes off as misleading playing with the sense of equality, because although the color scheme makes them seem equal, the fact that she is in a constraining corset and he is freely washing himself makes her seem more held back and repressed than the man. Advertisements have a way of using woman to intrigue men into buying whatever they are selling. However, this advertisement misleads that idea because although the woman may be intriguing she is certainly not "dirty".
