We all are able to look up into the sky at night and find the moon staring down at us reflecting its light down from space, but with a telescope certain people are given an exclusive opportunity to observe it with a far more enhanced view. With the help of Orion Telescopes, the everyday person is handed the opportunity to experience this exclusive view of not just the moon, but all of outer space. By releasing an advertisement that includes an example of their product's use, including a national symbol, and inputting irony into the image, the Orion Telescopes company is able to produce an interest in their product to potential customers.

By showing a few sets of images through the view that the telescope would show with three different magnification settings, the consumer is able to get a look at the product before it is purchased. The first image has no color, but is extremely fascinating, and strictly shows the moon magnified to the point where one can observe many shadowed craters. One may argue that a similar image can be found on the internet by simply searching on Google images for pictures of the moon, but that cannot compare to the amazement that one can experience from looking at it from a firsthand point of view. Since the background happens to be a solid black color, the whole advertisement appears to be coming from space. The absence of color assists in isolating the images so that the viewer can focus their attention on the certain images without being distracted by a more flashy background. With the setting of the images being the moon in space, a message is sent to the consumer that the product works well enough to seem not just more successful than something limited than Earth, but something out of this world.

All flags are symbols and can be given adjectives to help describe what they stand for. Our American flag stands for power, success, advancement, and determination. The image of our country's flag flying on the surface of the moon, with absolutely nothing around our nation's symbol, helps reach out to an audience of customers from the United States. The snapshot gives us Americans a strong sense of pride due to the fact that America was the first country in the whole entire world to step foot on the moon. An object can become more appealing depending on how it is presented to the viewer. In the advertisement, the light illuminating the flag makes the alienated object look far more elegant than it would if it was dark and suspicious. As we look past the flag, most of the surface of the moon that is surrounding the flag looks far more realistic than it does with just a still shot of the moon. Inputting a symbol of our country, that is appealing to the consumer, into the advertisement forces the viewer to think of the telescope as one that is like our nation, powerful and unique. The reasoning in purchasing a telescope is similar to why Americans went up onto the moon and left our mark and that is because why wouldn't one want to excel and flaunt their superiority to others by having more advanced technology.

When it comes to this advertisement, there is not very much going on in the images for someone to observe, but irony is implemented to assure that the viewer is not just entertained but is presented with an even better example of the product. As we take a closer look at our flag flying on the moon, we find "made in China" in small writing. The irony that we see here is quite comical since the flag is a symbol of our country's power, but our country wasn't even the one to produce the flag. By including this ironic image in the advertisement, the viewer is not just presented with dull and boring images of space, but is also amused with a hilarious joke. Although the advertisement uses a set of images placed in a specific order to indirectly tell us a story, the whole advertisement is full of realism. The logo for Orion Telescopes is separated from the rest of the advertisement so that is it clearly established what product is being portrayed. The color contrast of the black background compared to the bold white lettering makes the company's name distinctly visible.

Due to the use of certain elements of a visual text in the advertisement,

Orion Telescopes are described to the viewer without saying a word. By simply showing us a few images through the telescope's lens, implementing our nation's most powerful symbol into the advertisement, and also including an ironic joke, the viewer's attention is grasped and the product is made more desirable. Without seeing this advertisement most of us would probably not know what Orion Telescopes are and what they can be used form.
