Martin Luther King Jr. wrote and called his last novel, "where do we go from here, chaos or community?" It was published in 1967. The novel includes a chapter called "The world house" that is about the events that were witnessed during that period. He was a reverend and a doctor, and was considered a non-violent activist Racism, poverty, economy, technology, and discrimination were some of the causes that divided the world into blacks and whites, generating war, protests, and distribution of power; however, through the resources made in order to interpret "the world house" it is disappointed to discover what the world had to go through to get equality after fighting for years.

Poverty is humanity's oldest enemy, and people have tried to end it for many years. The end of it has been difficult to find because poverty affects an enormous number of people. Martin Luther king Jr. supported this fact when he said, "two-thirds of the peoples of the world go to bed hungry at night" (King ,290). King explains how many people have suffered over hunger for many years due to the big impact of poverty. The problem of poverty is not a lack of resources, as there are many ways to get more than enough. The problem is how people handle those resources, and he confirms this by saying "there is no deficit in human resources; the deficit is in human will" (King , 290). Countries need to have better communication and think about how to win the battle against poverty as a team without feeling superior to the underdeveloped countries.

Wealthy countries could share a little percentage of their income to help the poor countries with their struggles because when governments work for the good of others, all countries end up benefitting (King , 291). King says that everyone has to think about others, and that everybody needs one another in order to get a better community. He also invites people to stop being selfish when he says, "The self cannot be self without other selves" (King , 292). People need to work together and try to break down the line of poverty which divides them. On the other hand the sharing money did not happen. Some rich nations became richer because of the poor, and Carmichael supports this by saying, "A powerful few have been maintained and enriched at the expense of the poor" (Carmichael 54). Poverty affected black the most, and rich took advantage of it instead of helping.

Black people suffered because of poverty, and racism and discrimination were added to the problem. Racism and discrimination played a big role in this period because they have been part of human life for a long time. Whites discriminated black for many years, and colored people were placed at the bottom, inferior to whites. Many racist acts were experienced in Alabama because it had a law that allowed any group of people nominate candidates in political businesses (Carmichael 53). Alabama Democratic Party did not like black people at all. They raised the qualifying fee in order to avoid more Negroes become candidates due to they could not afford the high price (53). This might show how the whites acted and changed the laws in order to affect black people.

Technology and its new inventions benefitted only white people because they were who could afford and had it. This shows again how the opportunities were different for whites and non-whites. When the government approved new legislations, they did it to favor white people as well. Rules like white-jobs only, prohibition of marriage between whites and non-whites, and higher education for whites only worked to enlarge this color line that was big enough already. It is ironic to see a country like South Africa, which is surrounded by black countries, being racist only because its government was supported by the United States and Great Britain's economic policies (King , 288)

There were places where the population of black people was larger than the one of white people, and this could be something that could end up against white people. King had that idea when he said, "racism can well be that corrosive evil that will bring down the curtain on Western civilization" (King , 289). Where the Western civilization was the power on whites. He also says that the black community were able to abolish the Western's power because of its lack of commitment to create equality (King , 289). The power on whites did not let racism end because they behaved racist, and it seen in that way, ending with poverty would be impossible. Carmichael confirms that by saying, "For racism to die, a totally different America must be born" (Carmichael 54). But the power on whites were strong, and there were not possibility that a new America would born.

The Colonialism was originated because of the power of the big countries. Wealthy countries started to get power over the poor making Colonialism stronger. Those rich nations got in foreign territories and moved the economy while conquering their empty lands for their own benefit. Foreign products like Coca-Cola and automobiles invaded the market in the poor nations. The small countries' economy started to grow; however, the equality they were looking for was still far from achieving. Those young nations, as MLK called the improving countries, started to experience revolution and aggression. The new governments started to confront the same problems they were trying to get over. Although those struggles were not visible, they grew with them; the problem were still there. Then the post-colonial appeared, and King says, "The period is more difficult and precarious than the colonial struggle itself" (King , 291). Even if the new governments and their nations had a good economical balance; they would need assistance from rich nations. The rich governments are better equipped and organized to handle resources than the poor nations.

Black people got tired of being slaves, not having power, and being treated inferiorly by whites, so they started a revolution in order to get equality and be treated with the same rights. There were many revolutions that looked for the same stability and humanitarian equality; however, the Civil Rights movement was the principal non-violence revolution that managed to find the rights that non-whites were looking for.

Civil Rights accompanied by the United Nations were some of the parties that supported the non-violence movements, which allowed black people to have a voice and express their opinions. President Kennedy and most of republicans supported the Civil Rights movement. Martin Luther king Jr. led the movement. Black organized wars, revolutions, marches, and protest for many years (law). Many people got injured in these events, and Carmichael explains that by saying, "for many years, they marched and had their heads broken and got shot" (Carmichael 52). Black people wanted to be heard, and they were looking for their rights. Finally the Act of 1968 was executed. Blacks, women, and immigrants earned rights that they did not have before.

With fair housing as a law, people created an equal employment opportunity commission, which allowed black people to work with whites. Non-white children had the opportunity to study with whites, filling all the requisites to have a full education, and had the same probability of becoming bosses. Women and immigrants were given rights they did not have before the movement. Pregnant women could have breaks of work while they were in labor, and immigrants could find jobs without being discriminated because of their nationality (law).

Racism, slavery, and discrimination were prohibited around the world, which made the world house a better place with more equality. However, there are people who are racist and think they have the power to generate inequality, that is why King says, "This may well be mankind's last chance to choose between chaos and community" (King , 299). As conclusion and supporting what Dr. King says, people can decide if they want to live in integration or separation.
