The main message expressed in the Dodge Ram Truck "Farmer" commercial is that people who drive the Dodge Ram pickup truck are hardworking men with many great qualities, such as being a family man and being a hard worker. This messaged is expressed through video clips, pictures, repetition of words, and the coloring of pictures, and they are all used to give them a certain feeling that they need this truck. The Dodge company wants to make the viewer feel like they are this type of hardworking, true American, farmer-like, family man and that because of this they need to get a Dodge Ram pickup truck. They also try to make the viewer feel like they need to prove they are this kind of man and that the only way to do this is to buy and drive a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

There were many techniques used in this commercial to attract the viewers but one major one was the repetition of words. This is a technique that emphasizes an important aspect in what you are reading or seeing. In the commercial the narrator would describe a man with great qualities and skill and then at the end say the phrase "so god made a farmer." The repetition of this phrase was used to really get it in the viewer's head that farmers are these hardworking, great men and they use Dodge Ram trucks, so if they think they are as hardworking and great as them or even better, then the viewer should be driving a Dodge Ram. Also the fact that the commercial says God created the farmer makes the viewer think the farmer is the ultimate man because God is seen as the almighty being and that if this is what God depicts as a real man then They should be this kind of man, or even prove that I already am this kind of man. The more they use this phrase the more the viewer gets convinced of it and that is why the repetition of this phrase is an effective technique in getting the average guy to buy their product. This goes back to the meaning of the commercial of how they try to convince the viewer that driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck will make them a real man, who works hard and earns everything he gets and is a true family man.

Another important technique used in this commercial was the coloring of the images. Some images were put in black and white or a color tone that looked like it was from older times. This was used for the look of authenticity and to give the viewer the idea that driving this certain truck is an American pastime. It causes the viewer to think that for a long time, hardworking, American farmers who have driven the Dodge Ram have been successful in life and that if they drive one then they will also be a successful man. They would be successful in the way that people will see that they have worked hard in life and earned everything they have, including their Dodge Ram, and the truck is just to prove it. Another thing that symbolized this old, authentic theme was the tone of the narrator. His voice was from an older man and was made to sound deep, bold, echoing, and commanding, like a true leader would sound. It is almost made to seem like he is telling them they have to get the Dodge Ram. This technique relates back to the main point that they are trying to make the viewer feel like they are a true hard working man who earns what he gets and that to prove this they need to buy and drive the Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Another thing the commercial uses to attract the viewer to the Dodge Ram is the pictures and video clips shown all throughout it. All of the pictures and video clips shown in the commercial visualize qualities of a good man. They show hard work, family life, and tradition. These qualities are all things most men want to show and the commercial wants to give the viewer the feeling that driving a Dodge Ram will show that they have these qualities. Some of the pictures that suggested these things were pictures of men welding and carrying huge hay bales, which only a hardworking man could do. There was clips of dads with their sons and commentary that said their son wanted to follow in dad's footsteps and be just like him, these definitely show family and tradition. Most men want their son to follow in their footsteps and be a man just like they were. These coincide with the main point and how they try to convince them that driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck will prove they are a hardworking family man who has been very successful in life and accomplished everything he has wanted to.

The main point of the Dodge Ram "Farmer" commercial is to make the viewer think they are a hardworking, successful, family man. The commercial does this by using, images, colors, and repetition of words all to get the point across. Examples of all these are pictures of hardworking men, authentic and old coloring of pictures, and The narrator's tone being an older man who sounds like a leader, they all strive to make you want the truck. Qualities that define a real man would be, being a hard worker, being a family man, earning everything you have, and being a leader. Any man would love to have these qualities and what the commercial does is actually make the viewer feel like they are this type of man and then make them feel like you need this truck. The reason it makes them feel like they need this truck is because it makes it seem like the only way to prove they are this kind of man is to buy and drive the Dodge Ram pickup truck and when this happens the viewer gets so locked into thinking they need it without realizing that the commercial is making them think that. That is why this commercial is so effective.
